SPORTS RESULTS

FUTSAL

On Friday 19 March, three MAC teams attended the Otago Secondary School Futsal Champs in Dunedin. All teams had a great time playing to their best with both our senior girls and boys teams making it into the finals! A big thank you to our coaches and team managers, Neil Stuart, Brianna Lobb, Ben Pennycuick, Andrew Miller and Leon Roode, who went away with the teams.

Here is a recap of the trip from Senior Girls Team Member, Tess Treadwell-Burke:

"Ten of us girls travelled to Dunedin last Thursday for a one-day, full-on, futsal tournament. We played a total of five games, three of which were pool games and the last two were finals. We came into semi finals at the top of our pool, which we were all very stoked about, and then continued to win the semis final with a score of 3-1. The finals ended up being physically and mentally the hardest game. We walked away with second place, with a score of 4-3 to St Hilda's. A big thank you to our coach Brianna Lobb - we could not have done it without her."

UPPER CLUTHA ATHLETICS

On Wednesday 24 March a group of Year 7/8 students attended the Upper Clutha Athletics. It was a great day with some awesome results, qualifiers from this event will get to attend the Central Otago athletics on Monday 29 March.

CYCLING

Last weekend MAC students Carter Guichard, Hugo Sinclair and Muireann Green competed in the Southland “Fight for Yellow” two day cycling tour. With five stages over two days, the “Fight for Yellow” riders got a taste of multi-stage tour racing, with racing taking place across four grades.
Both Carter and Hugo won the "most aggressive rider" jersey in stages of the B Grade and Muireann won the jersey in one stage of the C Grade.
Carter won the B Grade’s "most aggressive" jersey overall and placed 4th and 5th in two stages, and placed 5th overall. Hugo placed 2nd in the fourth stage. All three riders raced over 110km each day for two days. Huge effort, well done!

QUAD TOURNAMENT

As usual our MAC students were great ambassadors at the annual Summer Quad tournament which was held in Winton on Thursday and Friday last week. Here is the results table and some photos of our competitors.
