ACADEMIC AND LEARNING

Mount Aspiring College —

View the remarkable models produce by our Year 11 students in the Spatial and Product Design course.

In the Year 11 Spatial and Product Design course, students choose designers as an influence to inform their own ideas. Students had two starting points: one from a Te ao Māori perspective, and another from any culture or country.

Students worked through a thorough design process and at the final stage generated a model of their final design idea. To make the model, they used Adobe Illustrator to construct the files and the laser cutter to cut out the components which represent different materials. Once the models were assembled the students superimposed photographs of the models into a site related to their chosen brief using Adobe Photoshop. Some students supported the final model with high quality digital rendering of their interiors.

The briefs they could choose from were: the design of a Tiny House, a Roys Peak Tramping Hut, and a Pavilion for a site at school. All students produced outstanding work with a selection shown here.
