PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE

Nicola Jacobsen —

Here, Principal Nicola Jacobsen shares her thoughts.

Kia ora,

It was great to visit the Year 8 students this week as they prepare for their Sustainable Christmas Market, which will be held after school on Thursday. I really enjoyed talking to the students about their product, how they came up with their ideas, their planning and marketing strategy. Year 10 Business students are currently selling a range of products that they have developed - from reusable gift wrapping bags to platters. It is great to see the range of skills developing as they collaborate, negotiate and present their ideas to their peers and teachers.

The junior lead student group has been helping with a range of projects and activities over the past couple of weeks. At this week’s assembly they presented on finishing the year well in terms of continuing to make the most of opportunities, working hard in classes and being kind to each other. They have organised some lunchtime activities for the rest of the year, which are advertised in the student notices.

A few reminders about important dates:

Monday 27 November: Staff only day

Thursday 7 December: Year 7 and 8 Awards Ceremony, and last day of school for Year 7 and 8 students.

Friday 8 December: Year 9 and 10 Awards Ceremony. School will finish for students at the end of their awards ceremony (approximately 11:30am).

Toitū te whenua, toitū te tangata.

The land is strong, the people are fulfilled.

Ngā mihi,

Nicola Jacobsen
