PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE
Here, Principal Nicola Jacobsen shares her thoughts.
Kia ora,
Wednesday night’s Sports Awards was a superb evening. It was quite humbling to see the number of students involved in a wide range of sports, and to be able to recognise our coaches, teachers-in-charge and volunteers as well. Well done to all the students, and to the staff for putting on a great event.
At the junior and senior assemblies this week our Head Students gave their final speeches to the students and staff. As leaders they have embraced the challenge of being a Head Student, managed competing priorities, and been able to play to their strengths as a team of four. The theme of getting involved and stepping out of your comfort zone was something each of them spoke about - they had each faced different challenges at different times, and are proud of the way they have supported each other. I am very grateful for the work they have done as Head Students this year.
Over the last two weeks we have hosted ‘New to MAC’ parent information nights for the parents of students who are starting at MAC next year. Each night we had approximately 100 people attend to get a sense of what learning is like at the College. The tour of the new buildings was a real highlight with the opportunity to talk to a number of staff as well. Thanks to all involved.
Toitū te whenua, toitū te tangata.
The land is strong, the people are fulfilled.
Ngā mihi,
Nicola Jacobsen
