Kia ora
We have the wonderful author Mary-anne Scott visiting our school in early March. Mary-anne has written numerous books, including Sticking with Pigs and The Tomo. I have had gutted pigs hanging in our garage, but never experienced the hunt myself. After reading Sticking with Pigs I feel that I have been in the thick of it! They are phenomenal stories, and resonate hugely with our students who do hunt, or want to hunt. They are personal and engaging and quintessentially New Zealand. We are so excited to have Mary-anne visit.
The Next Chapter bookshop is hosting Wānaka Literacy Educator, Kate Lloyd, at the Community Hub on Tuesday 25 February at 7pm. The event is all about promoting children’s literacy and a love of reading.
They will discuss ‘how to instil and foster a love of books and reading’ as well as ‘practical strategies to encourage and help children who find reading challenging.’
This is a free event, hosted by The Next Chapter. Places are limited. Please text to reserve your seat - 0210 904 6330.
Have a great weekend
