PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE

Dean Sheppard —

Here Acting Principal Dean Sheppard shares his thoughts.

Kia Ora and welcome to the final Mount Aspiring College Newsletter for the year,

On Monday morning we hosted all of our 2021 Year 7's in an orientation session (" A taster of MAC"). This was a new initiative this year and was a great success! It was wonderful to see so many of these students getting some 'real' experience of MAC prior to them starting here in Feb 2021.

It has been a super busy time here this week and on Tuesday evening our Year 8 students and staff held a night market. The main themes behind this idea were to raise money for charity and to encourage entrepreneurship/business skills. I was very impressed with the ideas that the students had come up with and the patronage was also fantastic, well done everyone!

Closing out this week and into next, our juniors are participating in a series of activities with lots of exciting opportunities taking place outside the classroom. I know that they will have made the most of these and look forward to hearing all about what they have been up to.

As the final week of school approaches, NCEA exams draw to a close next Wednesday. I want to say congratulations to all of our Year 11 -13 students on their efforts during the last 3 weeks, I know it will have been busy for you over this period but just know that your hard work and dedication will pay big dividends.

Finally, this will be my last newsletter piece so I sign off from my duties as Acting Principal, I want to acknowledge all of our students and staff for their efforts this year. As you know, 2020 has been a rather tumultuous year but all of you have taken it in your stride, helped and supported each other throughout and you can now look forward to a well deserved holiday with friends and whanau.

Have a fantastic Christmas and New Year, have fun and stay safe.

Nga mihi,

Dean Sheppard
