Grass Bowls
The Physical Education Department has gone to great lengths this year to offer a group of Level 2 physical education students an opportunity to try something new. They have been looking at alternative and exciting sporting activities such as Grass Bowls. This term students have been learning and developing their skills and understanding to gain success for their NCEA practical assessment for 2.4: Perform a Physical Activity in an applied setting.
We have been very fortunate to have two wonderful instructors from the Wanaka Bowls Club, Peter Herbert and Ewan Miller who have given up their time to work with our students. Community engagement and working with clubs in the community has opened up opportunities to develop positive working relationships and utilising local facilities. Breaking through the preconceptions and stereotyping around the sport and offering the students diverse opportunities to succeed.
The students have been really focused and will be completing their practical assessment over the next few weeks.
