FROM OUR BOARD CHAIR

Niamh Shaw is looking forward to communicating about the Board's governance plans and objectives in this newsletter throughout the year.

Kia ora everyone

The first Board meeting of 2024 took place two weeks ago, and I am honoured and excited to serve you, the school community, as the Board Chair. On behalf of the Board, I’m looking forward to communicating about our governance plans and objectives in this newsletter throughout the year.

We want to do everything possible to make our work accessible to the parent and caregiver community. You will notice the School Board web page has been updated to include the purpose of the Board, a brief introduction to each of the Board members, the meeting schedule for 2024 and some useful documentation. In particular, the Governance Manual 2024 describes more about how the Board works towards nurturing and supporting student progress and achievement within an inclusive learning environment.

We also plan to publish agendas on the Board page and these will be available the Friday prior to each Board meeting. You are most welcome to attend Board meetings which are open to the public. We ask that you register your attendance by emailing: boardsecretary@mtaspiring.school.nz.

You may be interested in hearing Nicola report to the Board on wellbeing and the programme of professional learning that embeds whanaungatanga (building connections) based on Russell Bishop’s work Teaching to the North-East: relationship-based learning in practice.
