SPECIAL EDUCATION NEEDS HUB (HQ)

HQ student Oscar shares some news about HQ's important work and the people who make it a special place to be.

Hi, my name is Oscar and I have a rare form of cerebral palsy. I came from Whangaparaoa College in October 2023 and I am in Year 12. I am doing Food and Nutrition, History, Drama and Outdoor Pursuits.

This newsletter is to tell people about the work we do and the people in HQ.

In July, Eli - one of the HQ students and his friend - are going to Auckland to meet the All Blacks and to watch the test match with England. Eli loves rugby and he follows the Crusaders. The trip has been kindly sponsored by Make a Wish.

Every Friday we cook lunch for the people in HQ and for other people who want a homemade lunch. Everybody is welcome. In this photo we had a pizza lunch for Emma who was leaving the College.

Recently, some of the HQ people took part in Athletics Day. They had a go at shotput, running, javelin and long jump. I had never done it before and enjoyed it. I didn’t do athletics at my old school because students had to opt to do it and here I could just join in and the kids were friendly and nice to me. Here is Zac throwing the javelin.
