Alastair Sinton - Principal —

E ngā reo, e ngā waka, e ngā mana, tēnā koutou katoa.

The past few weeks have been a very busy one for staff and students at the college with three major prizegivings over three weeks.

It has been an absolute privilege to be a part of these and to celebrate the phenomenal amount of success our students have experienced this year. So many of our students have earned success locally, regionally, nationally and internationally. The achievements of these young people reflect a community that is rich in talent, hard work and opportunity.

A list of major prize winners will be attached to this newsletter. However, I must congratulate Molly Shivnan and Bae Fountain for earning the top Senior Sports awards, Elijah Te Kani for the Performing Arts award and Ryan Anderson and Kerry Parkinson for taking out the Proxime Accessit and Dux awards respectively. Well done to you all. These awards are tough to earn with such a depth of talent at Mount Maunganui College. It was also a tremendous honour to welcome former students, Scott Robertson and Tom Cotter back to their old school to speak at our awards evenings.

Best of luck to all senior students as they prepare for the NCEA examinations beginning next week. It is essential that students leave nothing to chance and use their time effectively. If students need further support, they are encouraged to make contact with their teachers, deans and other staff if required. An earlier newsletter outlined some useful strategies for students to employ during study leave.

Looking forward to 2019 I again encourage families to access our Bring Your Own Device information available in this newsletter and through our website. If you have any questions regarding this please contact the Associate Principal, Tina Yule by emailing tinay@mmc.school.nz
