Kia ora koutou,

Thanks for your continued support for distance learning. We have received a great deal of positive feedback so far and our students have been thoroughly impressive in their eagerness to engage.

I would like to acknowledge all staff who have adapted to the new educational context with energy and creativity. I am certain they will continue to work hard to give our students good quality teaching and learning throughout these coming weeks.

As you are likely aware, yesterday the Government decided that we will move into Alert Level 3 on 28 April.

The key message for you is that if you can, you should keep your Year 9 and 10 children at home. All Year 11, 12 and 13 students are to remain at home until further notice. I want to assure you that we will continue to support your child through distance learning.

You should only physically send your child to school if you need to. If your child has a health condition that means they are at a greater risk of a severe illness you must keep them at home. If your child, or anyone in your household, is sick please also keep your child at home.

The Ministry of Education has advised that they are working closely with the Ministry of Health to develop clear guidance that will support schools to safely re-open their premises to students and staff. In order to ensure the safety of those children and our staff who do come to school, we will be operating with strict enforcement of health and safety measures.

More detail on what this will look like for students will be issued later this week alongside a request to notify us whether your child needs to attend school in person.

As always, please do not hesitate to contact us if you have any specific concerns about your child and their learning.

Ngā mihi,

Alastair Sinton
