Year 9 and Year 10 Caregivers

Alastair Sinton - Principal —

IMPORTANT REQUEST

Kia ora whānau.

As I outlined yesterday, we urgently need information from those of you who require your Year 9 or 10 children to attend school from next Wednesday.

Having an accurate list of students expecting to attend will help us meet strict health and safety obligations. I must reiterate, the government’s expectation under Level 3 is that you should keep your child at home if at all possible.

To meet the guidelines set out by the Ministries of Health and Education, the following will be in place to protect staff, students and our community:

  • Lessons will continue online and students will be supervised only. No classroom instruction will be given. Students at school will be expected to continue engaging with their own teachers via distance learning.

  • Students will be kept in a group of no more than 10.

  • There will be no contact with any student or staff outside this group.

  • Students will be allocated a room in advance and must go directly there on arrival. This will be their room every day for the remainder of Level 3.

  • Students will be allocated a desk and will maintain regulated physical distancing from others at all times.

  • Break times will be more frequent but shorter in duration. They will be scheduled so as to ensure there is no interaction with any other groups.

  • The canteen will be closed and students will be expected to bring their own food and drink.

  • No sporting equipment will be issued during break times and students are unable to share any sporting item of their own.

  • Parents/caregivers are not to come on site. The front office will be open to receive emails and phone calls but closed to visitors.

Please be aware that further health and safety measures may be required.

If you have a child returning to school please complete the following survey.
