Mt Pleasant School thanks Milford School...

Chris Nord —

We are extremely grateful to the Milford School community for their caring and thoughtful gift to our school community affected by the recent Mosque shooting.

We would like to extend our heartfelt gratitude to our community in the wake of the Mosque shootings in March.

We had one family who was directly involved in the Linwood Mosque with the father being hailed as a local hero for his part in protecting the community members as they prayed on Friday 15th March. Two of this whanau who go to our school were also there with their father.

When we were contacted by your school, it was clear that we would use the money raised in your mufti day to support them as they recovered from this event. While they were lucky to not have lost family, they have been through great hardship in the weeks that have followed. They own a small family business which was closed for several weeks as they helped prepare for the funerals and supported the other families afterwards.

Our community has surrounded them with love and support and they are beginning to recover slowly. We will continue to do this over the weeks and months ahead. We have a huge sense of responsibility to this family as part of our community.

Every cent of the money raised by your school has gone to this family. On behalf of them, we pass on our gratitude for taking action to raise funds to help.

Part of our mission is to develop compassionate and caring young people who help to create a better and more peaceful world through intercultural understanding and respect. Milford School has modelled this to us. We thank you!
