Year 12 Tourism Trip to Tākapō

Mrs Barge —

On Monday August 21st, the Year 12 Tourism class visited Lake Tākapō to learn about the Tourism industry.

First stop was accommodation provider Peppers Bluewater Resort. After being shown around the accommodation, we learned the different ways that our hosts had come into the tourism industry. They also fed us some delicious drinks and snacks for morning tea! We then visited an attraction, the Dark Sky Project. There we did a tour and learned about the stars and their cultural and scientific importance, followed by another discussion about getting into the tourism industry as a career. Finally, we visited an activity - Tekapo Springs. We all had fun snow tubing for an hour, then we did a short tour and talk about the history and tourism aspects of Tekapo Springs. Then it was on to the ice rink for a skating experience. An enjoyable day and lots of fun. Thanks to the teachers involved.
