Sports Report

Jackie Ryder —

Welcome to my first report for 2022: Sport is all go although it is looking a little different at this stage. My office is in Hiwi and I am usually in my office at morning break and lunch time breaks, so that the students can find me at these times if they need to.

Sports Committee and Captains:  We are pleased to announce that Amy Baird and Jack Drummond will be our Sports Captains for 2022. Both Students are Year 13 and are looking forward to the challenges that their new roles will bring! Our meetings of the Sports Committee will be held on Tuesdays at morning break in room 17, off Hiwi Commons.

Swimming Sports: Due to the current Covid level, we have moved this event till later in the year, and are hoping that by November we will be in a better place to include all our Year 9 and 10 students. Our new date is the 4th November 2022.

Winter sports sign-ups:  For all Year 10 - 13 students (and any Year 9 students that missed these earlier) these will be happening over the next 2 weeks.  Students - listen to the notices and to make sure you attend the sign-ups.

Friday night Volleyball is back in full swing.

Aoraki Tennis: On Thursday the 17th February we had two students, Emjay Gale and Hannah Caird, travel with a team from TGHS to this event held in Ashburton. The girls had a great day, playing some very hard games and gaining a great deal of experience.
