Hiwi News

Hiwi kicking off 2022!

Hiwi started off with a fantastic session with Year 12 & 13 students who stepped up and offered to be Peer Support Leaders. We had a wonderful team - 25 young people in total. Our day at Lindsfarne reflected on who we were as leaders and the amazing skills and diversity we bring. We spoke about the new young people coming into the school as Year 9s, and our roles supporting them. Ms Charteris and I ran some fun activities encouraging students to think about our differences. The students were super receptive and have been amazing helping the Year 9s and Ako changes settle in.

Year 9 Orientation followed with some late minute Covid changes. We had a fun filled 2 days at school. Day 1 was structured, sprinkled with crazy Hiwi fun and plenty of orienting ourselves with Mountie life. Friday was all about strengthening new relationships made on Thursday by engaging in fun activities. A wonderful chance for the new students arriving to find their feet before the following week with all students on site.

Hiwi has made an awesome start this year with a new flag and continuing to strengthen our Kea theme. We look forward to more cheeky fun this term!
