Year 12 Geography Trip to Aoraki/Mt Cook
On Thursday August 21st, the Year 12 Geography class headed off in the early morning to Aoraki/Mt Cook to study the glaciated landscape of the South Island High Country.
First we walked the Hooker Track to the Hooker glacier, stopping to view the Mueller Glacier on the way. The walk was enjoyable and the scenery was stunning. After lunch at the glacier lake we walked back and then visited the DOC Visitor Centre to learn more about the glaciation processes and landforms of the area as well as the human impacts. Then we headed off to walk the track to the Tasman Glacier lookout before heading home. Everyone had a fantastic time as well as being able to experience what we had been learning about in the field. Thanks to Mr Barge, Mr Martin and Mrs Barge for taking the trip.
