There are four sections.

2. Korimako - Senior English section: prepared speech in English for a minimum of 6 minutes and a maximum of 8 minutes, they also have an impromptu section which is the same as the Māori section with 5 minutes preparation and 3 minutes to deliver.

3. Rāwhiti Ihaka - Junior Māori section: 8 minutes minimum with a maximum of 10 minutes.

4. Tā Turi Carroll - Junior English: 4 minutes minimum with a maximum of 6 minutes.

Rongomai-Ngākau Unahi is entered in the Pei Te Hurinui section.
Rhythm Reihana-Robinson is entered in the Korimako section.
Karuwai Taha is entered in the Rāwhiti Ihaka section.
Christian Voice is entered in the Tā Turi Carroll section.

Whaea Iri and four kaikōrero (speakers) travelled to Kaiapoi on Thursday 15th June to support Rongomai and Rhythm in the impromptu section.
They competed in their respective sections on Friday, 16th June.
The Kapa Haka team has been working extremely hard in the last two weeks to learn two waiata to support these speakers.

We have also supported two Junior speakers and their kapa from their kura, Roncalli to learn the waiata.  A big mihi (shout out) to the supportive kaiako at Mountainview that allowed their students to be present at the extra trainings during scheduled class time- ngā mihi nūnui ki a koutou mō tō tautoko me te manaakitanga ki tō tātou ākonga. Ngā mihi hoki ki a koe e Rāwiri - thank you also for your support.
