PROJECT PERIOD

MVHS —

Students Aleisha Smith and Cat MacClure have been busy in their Environmental Sustainability Class with a new initiative to help reduce period poverty in schools.

Whilst also handing out the government-funded free single-use sanitary products, the girls have created an initiative allowing students to receive free period underwear at school.  Period underwear can be used for a full day and washed to be reused, not only reducing the price spent on period products but also waste accumulated from them!  To fund this they have applied for funding, started a Givealittle page and received support from The Warehouse.  For more info about them checkout Givealittle link and more info.

If your child is interested, order forms are available at the office as well as all students have received a link to an online form via email, single-use product care packages are also still available at next week’s assembly and by emailing project.period2022@gmail.com for products, order forms or queries!

Below is a link to an article they did in the Timaru Herald recently.
