2024 School Donation
At Te Kura o Paeraki | Mt Pleasant School we focus on providing students with an education that allows each student to achieve their very best. No matter what their strengths and abilities, we strive to provide the tools and resources they need to thrive.
Unfortunately, the funding we get from the Ministry of Education is never enough to support this outcome. Therefore, we do plan on parent donations when setting our budgets. We simply could not run the great programs within our school without your help.
In particular, the operational funding we receive from the Ministry doesn’t cover all of the staffing, resources and equipment which parents expect to be available for their children throughout the year. Due to the Equity Index System, we receive less funding than many schools, so your donations help us meet this shortfall.
What we ask of you
The Board of Trustees believes that parents accept the need to make a contribution towards costs not covered by Ministry funding, and has set the following donation options for you to choose from this year:
$185.00 for your first child per annum
(equal to $1.00 per day of your child’s classroom time for 2024) and
$166.50 for your second and subsequent child/children; or$235.00 for your first child per annum
(equal to $1.25 per day of your child’s classroom time for 2024) and
$166.50 for your second and subsequent child/children; or$285.00 for your first child per annum
(equal to $1.50 per day of your child’s classroom time for 2024) and
$166.50 for your second and subsequent child/children.
A 10 percent discount applies if paid by 12 April 2024. Please refer to the payment options at the end of this article.
Donation Options
This reflects the reality that some of our whānau may be in a position to contribute more than others to fair and equitable outcomes for all our tamariki.
This year we will add Option 1 of $185.00 to each student’s account (and $166.50 for each subsequent child per family) so whānau can choose to pay the Option 1 donation as in previous years. However, if your whānau are able to contribute more, please email office@mtpleasant.school.nz and let us know whether you would like to donate Option 2 at $235.00 or Option 3 at $285.00.
You are able to claim back 33.3% of your payment very easily at any time via the IRD website by providing the IRD with a receipt for your payment. Receipts can be emailed to you on request.

How do I pay?
This donation will appear as a School Donation on your child’s school account. If you have more than one child at school this will appear as Family School Donation on your eldest child’s account, and can be paid in a variety of ways:-
Online - our school bank account number is: 12-3149-0240268-00
Please use your child's name and ‘School Donation’ as the reference
You can arrange to set up a regular automatic payment - see the office for more information
You can pay by cash or eftpos in the office
A receipt will be issued on request
