Aupaki Top Team

Matthew B & Aleksandra B —

There were multiple weeks of preparation by the Aupaki Student Council and many, many wristbands ordered. The Top Team event finally fell onto March 27-28 at the Van Asch school grounds, two sessions per day to stretch out over 600 children.

The teams were made up of kids from Linwood college, Sumner, Redcliffs, Mt Pleasant, Heathcote, Star of the Sea and Lyttleton. Lots of entertaining events were held on two (fortunately warm) days that were put together by the Top Town organisation, who have previously held the Top Town competitions for New Zealand cities and towns and now for different schools.

There were events that involved getting soaked, thinking desperately and rushing to win a game of tic-tac-toe to get points, which in the end get tallied up for three point-leading groups to get certificates for their performance. It was an enjoyable two days for the Mt Pleasant students and we’d like to thank all the parents, teachers, school staff members and, of course, the Top Town organisation for helping us make this possible.
