Nordy Last Words...

Chris Nord —

In this article are some comments about our recent ERO report and some thank you and farewell messages.

Kia ora koutou

It has been a huge year. I would like to thank all our community for their support and care of their children and our staff.

We have had so many people support us in so many ways and I want to say thanks to those who have contributed their time, expertise, resources or kind words to our school. We truly appreciate this.

On behalf of the MPS community, I would also like to acknowledge the incredible staff we have here. They are a collaborative and cohesive staff who work to make this a MAGIC place to work and a fun place to be. We wish them an invigorating and fun Summer break.

Mid-year we were visited by the Education Review Office. This involves independent reviewers visiting our school and reviewing the capability of our school to meet the needs of our community. They interview and collect evidence focussing on the achievement of the MPS students.

In a nutshell, E.R.O. said:

  • We have a broad and rich curriculum

  • Our school community is engaged in learning-centred relationships

  • Our students are achieving to high levels - this has been sustained over time.

  • There is relational trust across the school and community.

  • They recognised our entire staff… from Ground Control up for the culture that exists within the school.

  • We have excellent relationships with our wider community.

  • We have fantastic participation and collaboration across the school and beyond.

  • We have a high functioning Board of Trustees - the school is in excellent hands.

The outcome here was they acknowledged the progress over the years since their last review and gave us a 4-5 year review timeframe. To us, this recognises the mahi (work) by our school - the students, staff, Board & parents. What a great celebration. You can find the confirmed report attached.

To our families who are departing MPS, we wish you all the very best for the future. For those returning next year, have a fantastic break and we look forward to seeing you in the new year.

Have a fantastic break and we will see you all for the first day on school on the 31st of January 2018.

Ka kite anō
