16 students representing each of the kura within Aupaki Kāhui Ako met last week at Linwood College. Amongst them were two Year 10 students from Linwood College who added another perspective to our discussions.

Thank you to Linwood College for hosting us and providing us with kai. We had a very successful hui, with a focus on building our relationships (whanaungatanga) and looking back and forward. The students provided a unique perspective on the Top Team event and have some clear feedback for future events.

Our next mission was choosing a guiding kaupapa for our hui. There was excellent kōrero amongst the councillors about four different whakatauki that could represent and remind us of our purpose together. They then voted which whakatauki would best guide us in our decision making: Whiria te tangata. Weave the people together.

Our next meeting dates have been set for:

• Term 3 - Wednesday 8 August, 1:30 - 2:30pm, location TBC for current council members

• Term 4 - Wednesday 7 November, 1:30 - 2:30pm, location TBC for current + 2019 council members (more details to come)
