Nordy Words

Chris Nord —

One week to go and Term One is done & dusted!

It has been a busy term and we are seeing many tired students who are well ready for the holiday break.  Not to mention some of the nasty bugs circulating in our community.  The tummy bug doing the rounds is a particularly nasty one so we have put together some information on how to avoid it (or keep it to yourself!) HERE

Between daylight savings ending last weekend & all the rain Cyclone Debbie is generating for us, there is a definite autumnal feel to the air this week.  Very timely, with the school pool closing last weekend!  It has certainly been a great season of swimming, and a huge thanks needs to go out to Euan and our fabulous team of pool testers - we could not have this amazing facility without the input of these people!  Please remember to drop your pool keys back to the School Office as soon as you have a chance.

A big thank you for the extra effort drivers have been making outside our school.  We really appreciate your continued support in keeping our children safe, especially on the wet days we have been having.  Unfortunately we still have a number of recidivist drivers with some appalling, and frankly, downright dangerous driving manoeuvres. A parent walking towards school - on the footpath - was nudged by a car performing a u-turn at Billys Track earlier this week.  This sort reckless disregard for our community's welfare is now being noted and reported to police.

Whilst on the subject of road safety, we have a lovely new family at MPS who the significance of road safety is all too real for.  "School principal Craig Hickford was out enjoying a ride on his bike.  The next thing he knew was waking up in a hospital bed fighting for his life." In case you missed the SUNDAY Progamme last weekend, check out Craig's story here.  He has a very poignant message regarding road safety and the devastating consequences of a split second decision.

On another note, the PTA are holding their AGM on Monday night in the Staff Room at 7:30pm.  The fundraising done by the PTA is crucial to the effective running of our school, and we would love to see some new faces & hear some fresh new ideas.  Come along, we would love to see you Monday night!

Have a great weekend, all set for the last 4 days of Term One next week!
