Mt Pleasant Magic

Donna Ellery —

We have so many cool things to share with you this week! Read on to keep up with all the goings on here at school....

2023 Student Intentions

On Tuesday we shared THIS article, to gather information on any students intentions on returning to Mt Pleasant School for 2023.  If you are moving, if your child is leaving MPS, or even if you are a considering a move, we would love to hear from you so we can start planning for next year.

So if a change is on the horizon, please let us know HERE

NB: If your child is in Year 8, we don't need you to complete this.

ERO

Currently we are in the early stages of our Education Review Office (ERO) school evaluation process. The process has changed significantly since their last visit in 2017, it is no longer a ‘one stop’ evaluation conducted over a few days, but a consultation over time, where we work closely together to determine the best next steps for the school.

This more differentiated approach will use a developmental evaluation that reflects individual schools’ context, culture and needs. It aims to strengthen the capability of all schools through embedding a continuous improvement approach, strengthening schools’ own engagement with and accountability to whānau.

Being a PYP school, we completed our very successful self review process last year, which culminated in the IB evaluating us against their high international standards and practices.

Mt Pleasant School would be one of the few schools in NZ, and certainly the only school in Christchurch, that has two very rigorous evaluation processes. For whānau, this means you have double the ‘quality assurance’ regarding your child’s primary education years.

If you would like to know more about the new ERO school evaluation, please read this ‘Go to Guide’.

  • Jewellery: the only jewellery permitted at school is a watch, stud earrings, and culturally significant items.
  • Nail polish is not permitted
  • Make up is not permitted at school, if your children do wear make up, please encourage them to wear this outside of school hours
