Room 2's Curious Risk Takers

Olwen Dieudonne —

In room 2 we have been curious risk takers, hypothesising and experimenting with different materials in liquids.

The children have developed an understanding of scientific language and can now explain absorption, displacement, repelling and density. Thomas and his mum, Kim shared some experiments with us which really helped the children to see that if something had greater density than water, it would sink and if it had less density than water, if would float.

We loved seeing what happened when salt was added to food colouring. There has been a real development in the children's thinking about why we need to know how a material will react in water, before we know how we can use it.
