MPS Makes a Splash

Jeremy Griffiths —

Last Friday we sent a formidable team of 34 swimmers to the SE Zone Swimming Champs, which were held at the under-construction Jellie Park.

There were plenty of quality swimmers from the various contributing schools and we certainly held our own and competed admirably. It was clear that there was some nervous energy heading into the event, especially those whom this was their first experience of competitive swimming at this level. At the end of the day, there were a number of impressive performances and everyone who took part should be proud of their achievements and the way in which they represented Mt Pleasant School. You all certainly displayed qualities of both the risk-taker and balanced learner profile traits.

Special congratulations must go to the following students for successfully qualifying to compete at the next level of competition, the CPS Swimming Champs: Macy S (Yr 5 Girls 50m Freestyle), Issy T (Yr 5 Girls 50m Backstroke), Evie N (Yr 7 Girls 50m Freestyle and Backstroke), Mila H (Yr 8 Girls 50m Breaststroke and Backstroke), Adam M (Yr 6 Boys Fresstyle and Breaststroke), Qba M (Yr 6 Boys Backstroke) and Jordan A (Yr 8 Boys Freestyle and Butterfly). This event is to be held at the Selwyn Aquatic Centre (Rolleston) on Thursday 05 April (Week 10) and they will represent the entire SE Zone. Good luck and go well!

Thank you to all of the wonderful parents who kindly helped coordinate the swimmers with their various races and for the much appreciate support received on the day.
