EPro8
This competition is called Epro8 (pronounced E-pro-8). Each team of 4 students are given the same challenge to complete and have 4-5 hrs to build their structure and film the mechanisms.
The tasks involve the students working together to solve challenges involving engineering, problem solving, mathematics and innovation. Each task has to be broken down into small parts in order to be solved. There are rigid guidelines and points are given if the structure meets the set criteria. Maths and Science concepts are intrinsic and many problems have to be worked out along the way. The students get a real buzz when they work together to make something, like a lift, that actually works! Breaking problems down into small parts is the core of computational thinking and it also requires perseverance.
Congratulations to the following teams for their success in qualifying for the semi finals which were held at Kaiapoi North School on 28 June.
