PJ Day Coming Soon!

Donna Ellery —

The Student Council have planned a PJ Day for Monday 4 July. Students can; wear PJ's .... donate PJ's .... or bring cash on the day. Read on to find out out more.

The Student Council is working with "The PJ Project"  which helps children in need across NZ stay warm over winter by providing them with PJ's.

We [The PJ Project] are aiming to provide over 5,000 kiwi kids with pyjamas so they can be warm this Winter.

We will be holding a PJ Day at Te Kura o Paeraki to collect pairs of PJ's for 2-5 year olds in Christchurch.

  • PJ's need to be NEW with their tags still on
  • Families only need to send one pair of PJ's per family
  • If you don't have time to find PJ's, a cash donation will be fine - we will purchase more PJ's to add to the collection.

The Student Council is very excited about supporting this cause - please watch the video they have prepared for you.

A bit more from the Kindness Collective & The PJ Project:

Covid-19 has had a devastating effect on many communities and families are struggling more than ever to make ends meet.

The latest child poverty statistics show that 236,000 children are living in income poverty. This means 1 in 5 children in Aotearoa don’t have access to day-to-day necessities, including good quality food, fresh fruit and vegetables, adequate healthcare and warmth.

We know that when children have at least a good night’s sleep, they wake up feeling more refreshed, they get sick less often and they’re able to concentrate a little more at school. This means that first, they need to be warm wherever they sleep at night.

By providing over 5,000 kids with their own pair of warm winter PJs, we are helping whānau have one less thing to worry about this winter.
