Sue Ashworth —

A huge thank you to you all for your contribution to what has been a very smooth start to the year. We appreciate that you are leaving and collecting your children at the gates. The children have done incredibly well wearing their masks as we seek to support our vulnerable children and staff and generally try to do our bit to slow the spread of Omicron. Just a wee reminder please - no parents in classrooms and please wear your masks if you need to come into the office area.

Usually, at this time of the term, we are organising our “Setting Up For Success Conferences”. However, with the ongoing uncertainty of Covid, we have decided to approach these conferences using a different format. Next week we will be sending home a paper discussion document for parents and their children to discuss, complete and return to school. This information will provide our teachers with the important information that we normally gather during our face to face conferences. We appreciate that this is not ideal but we are mindful of your health and wellbeing and that of our staff.

Please note that this document does not apply to our new children in Basecamp as further information will be sent by Basecamp staff. We are continuing to plan for our next conferences at the end of term 2, dependent of course on the ever evolving Covid!

Traffic!

I really hate being a Grinch, but I am genuinely quite horrified at the traffic chaos at the gates both in the mornings and afternoons. Please don’t park on the yellow lines as it obscures the vision for the wonderful students and staff who are on road patrol. We have drop off zones but please don’t get out of your car; these areas are to drop and go. A number of parents are still doing “u-turns” on Major Hornbook Road, especially at Billy’s Track…this is incredibly dangerous. We really appreciate your cooperation here.

Turf

But now on to something truly fantastic…the school turf currently being laid! I can’t believe that $225 000 has already been raised…an outstanding result! Now we just need the final $25 000 and we need your help!! Check out an article HERE to find out how you can help.

Working Bee

When I arrived back up to Mt Pleasant School I was thrilled to see all the new buildings etc but also, the amazing landscaping that has been completed. Great job. But it is in need of a wee bit of maintenance so look out for information coming soon re a working bee. I believe the response to our last one was incredible with so many parents, grandparents and friends turning up to help.

Week two is nearly gone already! Enjoy your weekend despite the gloomy weather forecast.

Regards

Sue
