SE Zone Swimming Sports

Jeremy Griffith —

The annual SE Zone Swimming Sports was held on Friday 18 March at Jellie Park. A large number of the contributing schools within our catchment were in attendance with all their very best swimmers competing. We put forward a fairly sizable team of 30 and there was quite a bit of anxious but positive energy heading into the event. For some, it was their first taste of this competition whereas it was the second, third and for the more experienced it was their fourth time competing. At the end of the event, there were several stand-out performances with these people successfully progressing through to the next stage – Canterbury Primary School Swimming Championships (held out at the Selwyn Aquatic Centre on Thursday 07 April).

Thank you to all of the wonderful parents who helped with transport on the day and also those who remained and helped coordinate the swimmers and their various races.

We wish Lily B (9yrs Girls - 50m Backstroke), Isabella G (9yrs Girls - 50m Backstroke), Kiera H (10yrs Girls - 50m Freestyle and 50m Backstroke), Mila H (10yrs Girls - 50m Breaststroke), and Gabby H (12yrs Girls - 50m Backstroke and 50m Breaststroke) all the very best and I’m confident they will represent MPS and the SE Zone admirably.
