Come and meet your PTA team

Katherine Shepherd —

We will be hosting an evening of drinks & nibbles at the ‘Good Home’ on Thursday April 7th where you can come along and meet the PTA team and hear a bit about how the PTA works and how you can get involved without having to commit to the bi-monthly meetings if you can’t.

On Tuesday 22nd March, Mt Pleasant School PTA held its annual AGM and amongst many things discussed the new appointment of the PTA Chairman & Secretary was confirmed. These roles have been taken over by:

Chairperson – Katherine Shepherd
Secretary - Jess Coombes

We would like to take this opportunity to thank the outgoing Chairperson, Ali Mander and Secretary Lia Smith for their hard work and time in these roles over the past years.

With the change of guard, we thought this would be a great opportunity to introduce ourselves to you all as well as put the call out for new members!

We are often just after ‘supporters’ that we can have on a list for when we run fundraising events where we can utilise skills you may have or to just help lighten the load.

Top reasons to join the PTA:

  • Support the school - The PTA is vital to the success of the school. Funds raised enrich your child's learning and make every student's experience better.
  • It’s totally flexible - you don’t have to come to every meeting, just be on the supporter’s list.
  • Make lasting friendships - Meet and chat to a wider circle of families from different classes and year groups.
  • Be better connected - Create closer links with the head, teachers and staff.
  • Because it’s fun - Be part of the team which organises the best events and get-togethers.
  • Change the school for the better - Have your say on important decisions. Work with the school and other parents to see where improvements can be made
  • It’s not just for Mums - Everyone is welcome, and it's especially important to have dads and male carers represented, as male role models are crucial in children's upbringing.
  • Be heard

Studies show that children whose parents are involved in their education do better in school. Engaging with the PTA shows your children's education is important to you. Play your part in improving the school and watch them thrive.
