Recruiting a new PRINCIPAL…
Following the news that Chris Nord is leaving us at the end of this year, the Board has met to discuss the process of appointing a new principal.
As you may appreciate, this is a complex process for the Board to manage. While there is good guidance available from the NZSTA (NZ School Trustees Association), School Boards often contract specialists to guide and support them throughout the process.
Currently your Board is seeking information from three companies about their services and costs, and aim to appoint a specialist by the end of next week.
An important part of the permanent Principal appointment is consultation with you, our community.
Below is a survey link that you can complete to assist us to frame a robust and dynamic Job Description.
The Board will then compile a job description, advertise the role, form the interview and selection committee, and commence the candidate selection process.

As you can imagine, all this takes time. With the recruitment process likely to take much of Term 4 to complete, the BoT are also consulting for the role of a ‘Caretaker’ Principal for Term 1, 2022. This specific short term role is paramount for the stability of the school, students and staff. We currently have a number of options that we are considering that meet this brief.
The aim is to have the new Principal starting at the beginning of Term 2, 2022.
We will update you throughout Term 4 of our progress, and we look forward to your survey feedback to help us find our next MAGIC Principal!
