Ground Control —

We have received a fabulous update from the 2021 basketballers & we just wanted to share what a great season they have had!

The basketball court in the hall is such an asset to the school and the adjustable hoops have been fantastic for coaching the year 2’s right up to the year 8’s.

We are so well equipped with a large selection of balls, a trolley, four sets of training bibs, a manual score board and several sets of team singlets.

There have been many basketball trainings and games played in the gym this year and as a result the school is making a name for itself in the Pioneer competition.

This year Mt Pleasant entered the following teams in the Pioneer basketball competition:

  • 5 teams in the yr 2/3/4 miniball competition
  • 2 teams in the yr 5/6 competition
  • 1 team in the yr 7/8 competition

Around 70 students In total were involved in a basketball team this year

These teams played across grades A, B & C.

One of our teams ‘The Manta Rays’ came 2nd in the A grade in the miniball competition. Another of our teams ‘The Megaladons’ came 2nd in the B grade in the yr 5/6 competition. A huge achievement for a team of year 5’s.

We are so lucky to have a community with parents willing and able to coach and manage these teams and Mt Pleasant are in the fortunate position of having some extremely experienced and talented coaches.

Thank you to everyone for the role you have played supporting basketball at the school. There are some very talented young players coming through the school which is exciting, and just as exciting, is seeing the newer and less confident players make such huge progress over a season.
