Where has this term gone? The shortest day is past us so we we are now on the way to Summer (in theory)!

Our ERO Review

Last week we welcomed Ann and Lusila to MPS. They spent their time at with us reviewing our school and looking at evidence provided to them. There was an intense scrutiny on our student achievement data and the systems we have in place to ensure all students are achieving at our school.

They also looked into the areas of Stewardship (the systems in place to ensure sustainable development), Leadership (how leadership develop relational trust that builds capability and collective capacity), Curriculum (how responsive is it to our learners), Partnerships (how the school works with our community to build relationships), Professional Capability (how do we continually improve our development through professional growth) and Evaluation, Inquiry and Knowledge Building (enables the creation and sharing of new knowledge and understandings about what works and makes a bigger difference for all learners).

While we do not know the final outcome of the review, we felt they captured the culture of our school and we look forward to sharing the report with our community in 7-8 weeks.

Communication Survey

As part of reviewing how we communicate with our families, we have put together a brief survey which should take (2-3 minutes) to help us evaluate the best way to share school events and information. We use several methods to ensure we keep our families informed and connected with MPS. We will use this survey to review our practices in our efforts for continual improvement.

Please follow this link to fill out the survey: Communication Survey

Road Safety Reminder

We have received several reports of drivers performing dangerous u-turns on Freeman Street directly after school. This poses a real danger to children crossing here, please continue in the direction you are facing and turn further along the road, or take an alternative route home.

That said, Constable Meg visited our school earlier this week & was pleasantly surprised at the good behaviour of drivers, and of the Year 8 students in charge of Road Patrol. She commented this is one of the few times she has seen such exemplary behaviour outside a school. Thank you for your consideration.

Book Week

No doubt many of your children are excited about the prospect of dressing up as their favourite book character on Tuesday. This year, the focus is on adventure characters. We can't wait to see what costumes they come up with! The parade starts at 9:10am in the courtyard.

Book Week is also a major fundraiser for our School Library, we are inviting every family to support our School Library by buying a book to donate. Tracey has lined up an extensive range of books to choose from with the help of the team at Take Note Ferrymead.

Bingo

It was my pleasure to have attended the PTA By Jingo… It’s BINGO evening last Friday night. What a tremendous success in both the ‘fundraising’ and friendraising’ having raised over $8,000. It was a hilarious evening with some fun ‘selfies’ on the Ethel & Bethel Bingo Babes facebook page. Take a look it’s good for a laugh.

The photos below are celebrating the success of our fantastic students ... we love giving out pats on the back for jobs well done!  We look forward to the final two weeks of Term 3, and hopefully more great results!
