Nordy Words

by Chris Nord —

Week 6 ... We are over halfway through Term 2 already!  It will be a big week this coming week (Week 7) with ERO visiting, and finishing off with our Comedy Night of the Year on Friday night.

ZdrAstvuyte (Hello)

A very warm welcome to the ERO Team; Ann Bodkin & Lusila Tahaafe, who are spending the week with us.  For those of you new to school, the Education Review Office (ERO) is the New Zealand government department that evaluates and reports on the education and care of students in schools and early childhood services.

The purpose of ERO’s reviews is to give parents and the wider school community assurance about the quality of education that schools provide and their children receive. An ERO school report answers the question “How effectively is this school’s curriculum promoting student learning – engagement, progress and achievement?” Schools and early childhood services are reviewed on average once every three years. Check out our last ERO Review back in 2012.  Please keep this in mind when assembling your children's school uniforms on Sunday night - let's look our sharpest!

COMEDY NIGHT OF THE YEAR

As you know our biggest winter fundraiser is nearly here! A night of comedy hosted by local comediennes Ethel & Bethel.  Bingo as it never was!  The organisers of this event have managed to secure some amazing donations for prizes and raffles for the night.  Including of course auctioning off the chance for your child to be Principal for the Day!  I look forward to seeing you there.

WIG WEDNESDAY

MPS is taking part in Wig Wednesday on Wednesday 21st June.  This is a fundraising initiative raising money for Kiwi kids with cancer.  It will be fun to see a school full of wacky hair-styles for the day, all in the name of a good cause!  Rumour has it I have been nominated for the "Big Wig" Challenge so I hope the School Council have set their target high!

Have a wonderful weekend.
