Dzień dobry

Term 4 is traditionally extremely busy… full of fun events as we head in to Christmas, kicking off with our Year 3-8 Athletics Day at Hansen Park in Opawa this week.  A great day was had by all, thank you very much for all the volunteers who helped out on Tuesday - we could not have done this without you!  We have received resoundingly positive feedback on the use of this venue and may look to make use of this site more often in the future.

In the next week we have two large events. The first being the Mt Pleasant Art Exhibition to be held over this weekend. Tonight there is a Gala Event from 6:00pm-9:00pm (you can buy a $15 ticket from the Office or at the door) with the event continuing tomorrow from 9:00am-3:00pm tomorrow. I have had a sneaky peek of the artworks as they have arrived and I am sure this year will be another great success. Even if you are not in the market for some new art, this is a great ‘friend-raising’ event where we can all mix and mingle to celebrate the arts with our wider community.

Next Friday, we also have the Primary Years Programme Exhibition. In the final year of the PYP, students, carry out an extended, in-depth, collaborative project known as the PYP exhibition. This involves students working collaboratively to conduct an in-depth inquiry into real life issues or problems. The exhibition represents a unique and significant opportunity for students to exhibit the attributes of the IB Learner Profile developed throughout their engagement with the PYP. It also provides schools and students with a wonderful opportunity to celebrate the transition of learners to the next phase of their education. The Year 8 students will be exhibiting their inquiries next Friday at the Mt Pleasant Community Centre from 6:00pm-7:00pm. Look for the article later in this newsletter with more detailed information on this event.

Finally, it’s great to see most students with hats. We do have a Sun Protection Policy (included later in this newsletter). If your child does not have a hat, please can you ensure they have one for the remainder of the term. We do have spare hats in the Office that we loan in case of emergency… but this requires a community service payment for the break for which they are using the hat (i.e. tidying the school environment - in other words rubbish patrol).

Have a great two weeks… we look forward to seeing you at the Art Exhibition over the weekend.

Do widzenia
