School Building Projects Well Underway

Carl Sara —

The design team are moving into the final phases of design. It is exciting to see all of the spaces evolving through the process of design. While it is always a juggle between dreams and budgets we are pleased with the designs and ideas that are developing. It is difficult to capture much of the detail that is going into the design, but be assured that a large team is working hard to include as much of the feedback we have received from the community, teachers and students.

The next phase of the design allows the Architects to start drawing up their detailed designs that will be sent out for tender and then consents. While that phase is underway we will be working with Ngai Tahu on our Cultural Narrative and ensuring that it is strongly incorporated into the schools design.

A part of the development that is not included in the existing MoE budget is the development of a significant hardcourt area with seating that sits in front of the current senior block as it leads onto the playing field. The BoT and community have identified this to be an important part of the overall schools design, and we have undertaken to raise the capital required to see this built as well.

We look forward to sharing more with the community as the final designs come to life.
