After giving Naenae College 40 years of loyal service. Len is retiring.
Len came to New Zealand from Liverpool in 1974, having worked in the trade as a fitter and turner. After a number of years in the Engineering Industry in Wellington. He signed up to train as a teacher, ending up with a fulltime position at Naenae College in 1978.
Len has taught Graphics and Hard Materials and has been the Head of this Department now known Design and Visual Communication for the last 20 years. His expertise and knowledge of this Curriculum area has also led him to be a valued member of the Design Technology Moderation Team that assessed student work over the lower North Island.
He has also been a Dean for 10 years (now known as Whanau Head) over his time here.
A big time supporter of his hometown soccer team, ‘Liverpool’ and also a Croquet player, which is a sporting and social activity he shares with his wife, Len has been heavily involved with these two sports over the years and he has been Coach of the Naenae Soccer Team, is Teacher in-charge/Coach of our Croquet Team and has also been Teacher in-charge of a volleyball team.
Len will be remembered for his strong Leadership, humour and for his ability to relate and communicate with learners of all ages and abilities. He is a highly regarded member of our staff and a valued teacher by former and current students.
We wish him all the very best for a long and happy retirement.
