The Shift Leadership group has been running with 10 young women from Yr 10-12, for 16 weeks. The focus has been on learning about wellbeing through the models ‘Te Whare Tapa Wha’ and the Mental Health Foundation’s ‘5 Ways to Wellbeing’, growing friendship, discovering what a great leader looks like and personal growth.
The Shift Leaders attended the Shift EmpowHER Conference at the beginning of the course, designed by their peers, to hear inspirational talks and workshops to build confidence in young women to be wellbeing leaders in their communities. To finish the programme, the group put on a wellbeing and physical activity for the young women at school - Zumba! We were lucky to have Rawiri from Les Mills facilitate, and congratulations to Auna who won ‘Most Enthusiastic Dancer’ on the day! Many of the girls are moving into leadership roles next year, such as being Year 12 mentors.
