Collaboration between classes could lead to school improvements

Duncan McKinlay —

As Nayland College moves towards fully integrating BYOD into Years 9 and 11 in 2020, each newsletter we will be profiling how our staff and students are using this technology to improve teaching and learning. This time we stopped by Mr Gargiulo's Year 10 social studies class.

In this lesson, Year 10 social studies students used Planner 5D to develop a concept for an Enviroschools inquiry they have been working on. The Enviroschools inquiry  involved multiple classes collaborating to create a ‘Vision Map’ which includes areas of the school that students would like to improve or features that students would like to incorporate into Nayland College.

The team of students featured in the photos decided that their concept would focus on proposing a new outdoor seating area. Using Planner 5D, the students first created a 3D plan of the existing area and then added in the features they would like included in the outdoor seating area.
