Coronavirus Update

Nayland College Official —

Nayland College is following Ministry advice carefully.

Dear Parents and Caregivers,

As you will know from media reports, the situation concerning coronavirus is rapidly evolving internationally. You may be wondering what Nayland College is doing to plan and prepare for an event like this.

The Ministry of Education and Ministry of Health have been providing excellent communication to school principals on this issue for the last few weeks. We will be following their guidelines and checking daily for updates.

Here is the current advice for all of us to follow:

Everybody should follow the following basic principles to reduce the risk of getting an acute respiratory infection or passing it on to others:

  • regularly washing hands (for at least 20 seconds with warm water and soap and dry thoroughly) or using hand sanitiser (provided around school)
  • covering your mouth and nose when you sneeze (if you don't have a tissue please use the crook of your arm)
  • staying home if you are sick
  • avoiding close contact with anyone with cold or flu-like symptoms
  • if you feel unwell you should avoid public gatherings and events

You can read more about advice concerning coronavirus from the Ministry of Education here and the Ministry of Health here.

Yours sincerely,

Daniel Wilson
Principal
