There is room for you in the waka
Last Sunday two teams of our Nayland College waka ama paddlers participated in the club races at Kaiteretere on a stunning winter morning. It was an early, fresh start but all worth it!
This was the first out of a series of four races over winter with many clubs and teams of the top of the South participating. Our teams did well and placed themselves in a good position for the next races.
Well done Silas, Lucah, Shihana, Maddie, Dereon, Tessa, Theo, Bella and Awanui, you all played a role in the waka and did this with full commitment, awesome. Hopefully Tula and Riya can join us next time again.
Thanks to Adrian, Claire and Marama for great parent support on the day and to Pete and Dean assisting in the waka.
We will continue our training, aiming to improve our paddle stroke and our timing. Some of us are always keen to jump off the waka for a swim, good times! Huli practice coming up soon too!
If this sounds like you, and you want to give waka ama at Nayland College a go, come and join us! There is always room in the waka.
