Become a Volunteer Surf Life Guard

Nelson Surf Life Saving Club —

Ever wanted to become a Surf Lifeguard? Well now is your chance! The Nelson Surf Life Saving Club will be running a 4 week Surf Lifeguard Award training course, starting Sunday 27 November. If you can swim we can teach you the rest!

Prerequisite: Candidates must be 14 years of age to sit the exam

Cost: $100 (Included in this cost: SLSNZ Surf Lifeguard Manual and Workbook; Pool hire; Lifeguard Uniform and Annual Club Membership).

You can register for the course by completing this SLG Award Training Course Registration form: https://forms.gle/1SuP2G7vh1rgDDTJ6

Or for more information call Christine on 021 444016 or email: training@nelsonslsc.org.nz

This is a four week course with most training sessions held on Thursdays from 5:30 - 7 pm and on Sundays from 3 - 5pm. It is important that you can attend most, if not all sessions. You will also need to be able to attend one of the two exam dates; either the 24th of December or alternatively you may sit the exam component later on the 14th of January.

Volunteering as a Surf Lifeguard is fun and rewarding . . . you make life-long friends, become trained in first aid, resuscitation, and practical rescue skills as well as have the opportunity to stay fit and healthy through competing in a wide variety of surf lifesaving sports . . . all whilst helping to save lives and prevent drownings!

Our volunteers come from all walks of life - they love the beach and have a desire to give back and ensure fellow kiwis and visitors get to enjoy New Zealand’s beaches as well.
