TSS Volleyball Championships
A big congratulations to Senior Girls A who won the Tasman Secondary School Volleyball Championships (for the 4th year running we might add)! Wishing our girls all the very best as they head to the national tournament in Palmerston North next week.
TSS T14 Cricket Championships
Our Nayland College Combined Cricket Team won the Tasman Secondary Schools T14 Cricket Championship, winning all three games convincingly to take home the title! Awesome work to everyone involved.
Cable Bay Enduro (National MTB Championships)
Xanthe Robb, Erica Batchelor and Nico Schroder all gained top placings. You can read more here.
Hockey NZ Masters National Tournament
One of our teaching staff Mrs Alana Wall competed at the Hockey NZ Masters National Tournament. In exciting news...The Tasman Districts W 45+ are now National Champions!
South Island Long Course Championships
Brooke Swan was in Dunedin swimming at the South Island Long Course Champs over March 2nd and 3rd. She had a fantastic meet. Placing:
- 3rd in 200m IM (17+ age group)
- 2nd in 200m Fly (17+ age group)
- 1st in 50m Fly (17+ age group) and SI Champion
- 1st in 100m Fly (17+ age group) and SI Champion
SISS Triathlon Championships
Lastly, congratulations to Keshia and Nia Linyard who competed in the South Island Secondary School Triathlon Championships March 2nd and 3rd in Oamaru - A podium finish for both sisters!
Keshia - 2nd Intermediate Girl and 2nd Girl overall
Nia - 3rd Junior Girl and 5th Girl overall.
Athletics
Micayla Whiti and Ellie Beever both smashed long standing Nayland College school records and 11 students achieved top placings at the Tasman Secondary Schools Athletics Day this week. You can read more here.
New Zealand U15 National Basketball
- Mr Ben Sheat (Teacher of Physical Education & Health, Nayland College Basketball Coach) has been named the NZ U15 Men’s National Head Coach, preparing to take a team to the Oceania Championships later this year.
- Freddy Evans (Year 11) has been selected to attend the NZ U15 Men’s National Basketball selection camp, where 24 players will compete for 12 places in the NZ team that will play at the Oceanias.
- Emilia Ainley (Year 10) has been selected to attend the NZ U15 Women's National Basketball selection camp, again hoping for an opportunity to play at the Oceanias.

Nelson Basketball Representative Teams
Congratulations to each of the Nayland College students selected to play for Nelson Basketball representative teams in 2024! Each of these teams are preparing to compete at the Mainland Qualifying Tournament 20-22 April, hoping they’ll make it through to the nationals. Good luck everyone!
