LSC Students Write Collaborative Poetry

Rowan Taigel —

Ms Taigel has been teaching creative writing in the LSC. Last week students worked together to create a sensory poem.

The aim of last week's creative writing lesson was to explore how calling upon our senses when writing, can make our words come alive for our readers.

The class brainstormed a range of feeling and emotion words, then voted on the one they wanted to create a poem around. The students selected 'tired' as their preferred option. We then explored the five sensory associations we had with the feeling of tiredness. The class then produced the attached collaborative poem (see images).

Once we'd worked together to create the class poem, students then wrote their own poetry. You can see some attached.
