Food Art module inspires budding bakers

Year 9 Food Art students —

Junior students taking the new Food Art module this year have been challenged to come up with design themes, adapt recipes and consider how to display and photograph their completed work to add to their food blog. Year 9 students Ella Shalders, Eva Jordan, Alizae Byers & Simone Tabili chose a takeaway theme for their cupcakes:

"We enjoyed the process of making our cupcakes in Food Art. We learnt that if there were certain aspects of the recipe we disliked (eg, the amount of oil needed) we could always modify it to our hearts content. We made takeaway themed cupcakes. Essentially cupcakes with fast-food fondant toppings on top of them. The peak of our excitement came from eating our completed cupcakes."
