Naycol helps Broadgreen get active

PE and health teacher Jo Cotton —

As part of the level 1 physical education curriculum, students were required to "take purposeful action to assist others to participate in physical activity." They decided that a visit to Broadgreen Intermediate would be a great place to start.

On Wednesday 31 October 17 senior PE students headed to Broadgreen first thing in the morning to lead 50 Broadgreen students. There were 3 sessions: badminton in the hall, and two sessions of multi-sport on the courts.

The level 1 students were required to warm students up and then get them active in an activity,  whether that be learning how to hit a shuttlecock or playing a bit of netball, football or basketball.

It was nice to see some of the senior students really stepping up to lead others. Broadgreen students were so cooperative, positive and enthusiastic to 'get active' and they were keen to learn too. We hope to see more of this happen in the future.

Thanks to Trina Wilkinson, Lee Corlett and Jillian Heaps for making this positive reciprocal learning experience possible.
