Nayland Sport at Level 2

Nayland College Official —

As school resumes next week under Alert Level 2, many athletes and sports teams may be wondering when they too can resume their training sessions and tournaments.

The situation for sports teams and athletes across New Zealand is an ever-evolving and changing landscape as the various sporting organisations nationally and regionally continue to discuss and make adjustments to their sporting calendars. At a national, regional and local level, everyone is considering the advice being given and continually updated by the Ministry of Health and the Ministry of Education.

For us at Nayland, while we wait for and continue to rely on guidance from both the government and these national and regional sporting bodies, we are committed to providing our athletes and teams opportunities to develop their skills through competition. This will likely be in the form of intraschool tournaments. However, there are some exciting, creative and innovative ideas being developed by our sports department so watch this space!

In the meantime, here are some key points to consider:

  • If your child was placed within a team prior to the lockdown and you have concerns regarding their ability to continue to commit to this team, please get in touch with our sports office.
  • Information regarding when sports will resume will be sent out to individual teams and coaches directly as this will vary greatly depending on a number of factors.
  • Nayland College are following all guidelines given by the Ministry of Education regarding resuming physical activities and sports.

If you have any questions, please contact the sports office.
