Year 9 IOS High Performance Camp

Abbe West —

Students participated in Exercise Physiology Labs at NMIT and fitness sessions at both F45 and Victory Boxing. Alex Ainley spoke about his experiences with professional sport (Rugby both in NZ and in Japan) and Jaron Steffans hosted a Sport Psychology session.

A last minute change meant that our sports nutrition session will be held this term and the class instead rocked out an amazing Zumba session. I have heard that Mr Geddes was a natural and that several of the boys in the class were teaching their parents the moves at home later that night.

Quotes from students:

‘I really liked what Alex Ainley said “it’s not what you know, it’s who you know” and how important it is to be a good person to leave a lasting impression on others’. – Cody
‘I enjoyed getting pushed to my limits at F45’. – Ashton
‘The two days at camp were full of activities that pushed our abilities and we slayed at Zumba’. – Matilda

The Y9 class now has the challenge of the end of term adventure race, where they compete in teams against each other on SUP boards and in a land rogaine.
